The shaft bearing snap ring (391-2686-063) is a critical internal fastening component located within the front shaft end cover or mounting flange assembly of the Parker PGP330 series. While small, it plays a vital structural role in high-pressure hydraulic circuits:

Component Blowout Prevention: It serves as a mechanical safety barrier, keeping the shaft assembly locked in place even when the hydraulic system encounters sudden pressure spikes or extreme shock loads.

Axial Load Retention: External gear pumps driven by mechanical gears, pulleys, or inline Power Take-Off (PTO) shafts experience severe forward and backward thrust forces. The snap ring locks the outboard drive shaft bearing securely inside its housing groove, absorbing these heavy axial thrust vectors.

Shaft Alignment Protection: By preventing the input shaft and bearing assembly from shifting axially, the snap ring ensures that internal components—such as the gear set, thrust plates, and high-pressure lip seals—remain perfectly aligned. This minimizes localized friction and uneven wear.
